The best Christmas gifts for grandad are warm, useful and personal: something cosy for winter, a better version of something he uses every day, a keepsake from the grandchildren, or a day out together with a date already set. Under £20 buys a thoughtful extra; £20 to £50 a proper themed gift. Ideas checked October 2026.
Below: ideas by type of grandad, gifts from the grandchildren, by budget, time together and our own picks.

The FSA’s 10mg a day figure is precautionary advice rather than a legal limit, set while longer-term safety research continues. At Evopure we think it is a very cautious figure, and many adults use more. If you go above it, increase slowly, and check with your GP or pharmacist first if you take any medication.
iIf he takes any regular medicines, check with his GP or pharmacist first.
- All three are vegan, alcohol-free and made in the UK.
- Our CBD Balm is broad spectrum and THC free, on the FSA public list linked to validated applications, and every CBD batch is third-party tested at ISO 17025 labs (reports on request via our lab testing page).
- Sent as a small parcel by Royal Mail Tracked, free over £45 (delivery details). Unopened, unused items can be returned within 14 days of delivery (returns policy).
They are food supplements and a cosmetic, not medicines. For a grandad who lives on tea, start with the reishi cacao; for one who is always out in the garden, the CBD Balm.
Our pick
Reishi Mushroom Adaptogenic Complex
Reishi Cacao is a hot chocolate made with reishi mushroom, cacao and maca: a cosy mug for the grandad who always has the kettle on. It contains a little natural caffeine from the cacao, so it suits the afternoon or early evening.

Which of these sounds most like your grandad?
The grandad who lives on his own
Age UK estimated in December 2025 that 670,000 older people would not see or speak to anyone on Christmas Day. So the best gifts bring people in: a digital photo frame you fill from your phone, a newspaper subscription, or a card with a standing weekly call written inside. If he likes making and mending, find his local Men’s Shed: over 1,150 are open across the UK. The Silver Line Helpline (0800 4 70 80 90) is free, day and night, for anyone 55 and over. More in loneliness at Christmas.
The grandad in his shed or garden
Build on the hobby: a bird feeder for the window he sits by, a padded kneeler, good gloves, a tool roll, a head torch for dark evenings, or garden centre vouchers. A cooling massage balm, such as our CBD Balm with peppermint and eucalyptus, makes a nice extra for a grandad who already uses CBD (see the checks below, and our CBD balm guide).
The grandad who loves a brew
Upgrade the ritual: a heavy mug, a teapot for one, loose-leaf tea, shortbread or dark chocolate. A rich hot chocolate makes a change from a nightcap if he’s cutting down (see alcohol-free nightcaps). Our reishi cacao is a mushroom hot chocolate; compare options in mushroom hot chocolate and sets in hot chocolate gifts.
The grandad who feels the cold
The NHS says people aged 65 and over are at higher risk from the cold, and advises heating the rooms you use regularly to at least 18°C if you can. It also advises slippers that fit well, don’t slip off and have a good grip. Thermal socks, a fleece gilet, a flat cap, a hot water bottle or a heated throw all make kind gifts. For an electric blanket, check it switches off automatically. More in cold feet.
The grandad who naps in his chair
Sleep often gets lighter with age (see sleep as you get older). The NHS suggests a regular wake-up time, an hour to relax before bed and a dark, quiet bedroom, so try a radio with a sleep timer, an eye mask or bed socks. Our Magnesium Glycinate Sleep Complex is a berry drink for his evening routine, and magnesium contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue (see magnesium for older adults). If he snores loudly or seems to stop breathing in his sleep, nudge him to the GP (see sleep apnoea and snoring). More in sleep gifts and light sleeper.
The grandad who keeps active
The NHS advises adults aged 65 and over to do at least 150 minutes of moderate activity a week, plus activities that improve strength, balance and flexibility on at least 2 days a week. So try merino walking socks, a walking pole, a step counter with big numbers, a round of golf or bowls club membership, or print him a Japanese walking plan. Our knee pain guide covers when to see a GP.
The grandad who has everything
“Don’t buy me anything” usually means “nothing that will clutter the house”. Give things he will use up or do: good cheese and chutney, a better version of something he wears out, or match tickets. Personalised gifts get kept: a framed map of where he grew up, or a “Grandad, tell me your story” journal. A letter from each grandchild often means the most.
The great-grandad, or grandad in a care home
Keep gifts light and easy to open. A framed four-generation photo is hard to beat. In a care home, ask staff what’s useful, as space is tight: name-labelled slippers, a large-print puzzle book or a family photo board. Put the next visit in his card.
The grandad living with dementia
Keep it simple and familiar. The NHS describes reminiscence work, sharing stories from the past with photos, objects and music. A memory book of family photos with names written in, or songs from his younger years on an easy player, both fit.

Gifts for grandad from the grandchildren
- From baby (and for a new grandad): a “grandad’s first Christmas” bauble, a framed hand and footprint print, or a recordable storybook so the baby hears his voice.
- From young children: anything they made: a painted plant pot, a salt dough handprint decoration or a framed drawing of “me and grandad”.
- From an older granddaughter or grandson: a “grandad coupon” book (one walk, one game of cards, one tech help session) or a playlist of his favourite songs.
- From adult grandchildren: a pint and a walk, a lift to see family, help with a job he’s been putting off, or a recording of his life stories.
Gifts for grandad by budget
| Budget | Ideas | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Under £10 | Thermal socks, a framed photo, posh biscuits, a puzzle book, a handwritten letter | Stockings, add-ons |
| £10 to £20 | A “tell me your story” journal, a heavy mug and tea, a bird feeder, a photo calendar | A thoughtful small gift |
| £20 to £50 | Grip slippers, a fleece gilet, a hot chocolate set, a bundle of two Evopure products | Most grandads |
| £50 plus | A digital photo frame, a heated throw, match tickets, a heritage railway day | A family gift |
Grandchildren clubbing together often buys something better. For a gift box, try the “5 gift rule”: something he wants, needs, wears, reads and does, all in one box (our self-care hamper guide shows how). Time together and experiences
Most grandads just want to see you all. The NHS lists connecting with people, being active and learning new skills among its five steps to mental wellbeing, and a shared plan can do all three.
- Get outside: a Boxing Day walk and pub lunch, a day’s fishing or a heritage railway trip.
- Watch together: a match or a pantomime with the grandchildren.
- A grandad date book: one plan a month for 2027, each with a date already chosen.
Put a date on it: an open voucher often never gets used. Buying for nan too? Our gifts for grandparents section covers joint gifts, and Christmas stress has tips for a calmer day.
Before you give grandad a supplement or CBD
- Adults only. All our products are for adults (18+).
- Medicines. CBD can interact with some medicines. If he takes any regular medicines, check with his GP or pharmacist first, for supplements too. See CBD and medication and CBD oil for older adults.
- CBD suits a grandad who already uses it, or has asked about it, better than a surprise.
- Pregnancy. We don’t recommend our products during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you’re buying for the whole family, choose something else for anyone expecting or breastfeeding. See CBD in pregnancy.
- Caffeine. Our reishi cacao contains a little natural caffeine from the cacao.
- Ordering for Christmas. We deliver within the UK only, and our parcels don’t fit through a letterbox, so someone may need to be in. For Christmas order dates, check our delivery page. You can enter grandad’s address as the delivery address at checkout.
