The FSA’s 10mg a day figure is precautionary advice rather than a legal limit, set while longer-term safety research continues. At Evopure we think it is a very cautious figure, and many adults use more. If you go above it, increase slowly, and check with your GP or pharmacist first if you take any medication.
iIf she takes any regular medicines, check with her GP or pharmacist first.
- All three are vegan, alcohol-free and made in the UK.
- Our CBD Balm is broad spectrum and THC free, on the FSA public list linked to validated applications, and every CBD batch is third-party tested at ISO 17025 labs (reports on request via our lab testing page).
- Sent as a small parcel by Royal Mail Tracked (it won’t fit through a letterbox), free over £45 (delivery details). Unopened, unused items can be returned within 14 days of delivery (returns policy).
They are food supplements and a cosmetic, not medicines. For a mother-in-law who loves a cuppa, start with the reishi cacao; for one who likes a quiet wind-down, the Magnesium Sleep Complex.

Which of these sounds most like yours?
A new or future mother-in-law
For a first Christmas with your partner’s family, aim for good quality and low risk rather than personal. Flowers or a winter plant, a box of good chocolates, a rich hand cream, a candle in a scent your partner says she likes, or a tin of biscuits for the family to share all land well. A short handwritten card thanking her for having you means more than the price tag.
The mother-in-law who hosts Christmas
If you’re spending Christmas at hers, bring a host gift and take a job off her list. Offer to cook a course, bring the pudding, or do all the washing up and mean it. A good apron, a festive table plant, posh crackers or a hot chocolate for Boxing Day morning are thoughtful extras. If the build-up gets busy, our guide to Christmas stress has ideas for keeping the day calmer, for hosts and guests.
The mother-in-law who has everything
Give things she will use up or do: her favourite hand cream, a lunch out with you, a class she has mentioned, or a donation in her name to a charity she supports. A photo book of the family’s year is hard to beat. See hot chocolate gifts for jars and sets, and self-care hamper for a small hamper she will actually use.
The doting grandma
If she’s grandma to your children, let them give the gift: a photo calendar with every birthday marked, a framed handprint or drawing, a recordable storybook she can read to them, or a short video message. A “grandma and me” memory journal she fills in over the year gets kept for good.
The cuppa and cosy evenings mother-in-law
Build on what she already loves: a fine bone china mug, loose-leaf tea, a soft throw and bed socks. For evenings, add a caffeine-free chamomile tea. Our reishi cacao makes a mushroom hot chocolate; compare it in mushroom hot chocolate, and check labels with our dairy-free hot chocolate guide if she avoids milk. If she sleeps lightly, an eye mask and an audiobook help her wind down, and the NHS suggests relaxing for at least an hour before bed. Our Magnesium Glycinate Sleep Complex is a berry drink for her evening routine, and magnesium contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue. More ideas in sleep gifts and sleep as you get older.
The gardener or keen walker
Try spring bulbs, a bird feeder, a padded kneeler, good gardening gloves, or garden centre or National Trust membership. A gentle Japanese walking plan suits a mother-in-law who likes to keep moving. A cooling massage balm, such as our CBD Balm with peppermint and eucalyptus, makes a nice extra after a day in the garden for a mother-in-law who already uses CBD.
The mother-in-law who already uses CBD
Many of our customers are in their 50s, 60s and 70s, so CBD can be a welcome gift for a mother-in-law who already takes it or has asked about it. Our Sleep CBD Oil combines broad spectrum CBD with passion flower extract for her evening routine, and comes in 500mg or 1,000mg. If she takes any regular medicines, check with her GP or pharmacist first. Our guides to CBD oil for older adults and the best CBD oil in the UK explain what to look for.
The mother-in-law you don’t know well
Not every in-law relationship is easy, and that’s normal. Keep it simple: let your partner choose or co-sign, pick something neutral she will use up (chocolates, a plant, a hand cream), and add a warm, short card. A gift that shows you listened, such as the tea she mentioned in the summer, says more than an expensive one.
Who should the gift come from?
In most families, the present for a mother-in-law comes from the couple, and the one whose mum it is usually knows her taste best. A few tips:
- Ask your partner first. They will know what she already has, her size and what she has hinted at.
- Add something personal from you. A daughter-in-law or son-in-law who adds a handwritten note, a homemade bake or a promise to help with a job in the new year often makes the biggest impression.
- Match it to your own family. Spend about what you’d spend on your own parents, so neither side feels left out. Our Christmas gifts for mum guide has ideas to pair with this page.
Christmas gifts for both in-laws
Buying one present for your mother-in-law and father-in-law together? Joint gifts work best when they’re about home, memories or time:
- Memories: a photo book of the year or a digital photo frame you can fill from your phone.
- For the house: a cosy throw for the sofa, a bird feeder for the window, or an electric blanket with an automatic switch-off.
- Things to share: a hamper of their favourite food, a hot chocolate set for two, or a bundle of two Evopure products, one each.
- Time out: afternoon tea, theatre tickets or a meal out, with a lift there and back.
The NHS advises heating the rooms you use regularly to at least 18°C if you can, so warm, practical gifts are kind ones for in-laws in their 70s and older. Age UK estimated in December 2025 that 1.5 million older people would eat Christmas dinner alone, so if your in-laws live far away, a planned visit or a standing weekly call can matter more than anything wrapped. Time together and experiences
Time together is often the gift that builds the relationship. The NHS lists connecting with other people and learning new skills among its five steps to mental wellbeing.
- Just the two of you: afternoon tea, a garden centre trip and lunch, or a Christmas market visit.
- Learn something: a wreath-making, pottery or cookery class for two.
- With the family: a carol concert, a panto with the grandchildren, or a winter walk followed by a pub lunch.
The one rule: put a date on it. A voucher with a date in the diary happens; an open one often doesn’t.
Before you give her a supplement or CBD
- Adults only. All our products are for adults (18+).
- Medicines. CBD can interact with some medicines. If she takes any regular medicines, check with her GP or pharmacist first, for supplements too. See CBD and medication.
- CBD suits a mother-in-law who already uses it better than a surprise. Your partner can ask her first.
- Pregnancy. We don’t recommend our products during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you’re buying for the whole family, choose something else for anyone expecting or breastfeeding. See CBD in pregnancy.
- Caffeine. Our reishi cacao contains a little natural caffeine from the cacao.
