A good self-care hamper has six parts: a container they can reuse, something warm to sip, something for the bath or body, something to read or do, something to help them sleep, and a handwritten note. Build it around one theme, such as stress, sleep or a cosy night in, and you can make a thoughtful one for under £25.

Below: the build-your-own checklist, six themed ideas with budgets, and how to wrap and post a hamper in time for Christmas.

What to put in a self-care hamper: the 6-part checklist

Most ready-made hampers follow the same pattern. Copy it, then swap in things you know they love.

  1. A container worth keeping. A wicker basket, a wooden crate, a canvas tote, a hatbox, or a big mug for a mini version. Skip anything that ends up in the bin.
  2. Something warm to sip. Herbal tea, a good hot chocolate or an evening drink, plus a mug if the container isn’t one.
  3. Something for the bath or body. Bath salts, hand cream, a face mask or a massage balm.
  4. Something to read or do. A novel they’ve mentioned, a puzzle book or a journal. Our list of 50 self-care ideas has more to print and tuck in.
  5. Something for sleep. An eye mask, bed socks, a pillow spray or a bedtime drink.
  6. A handwritten note. The part people keep. Say why you made it, and offer something only you can give: a walk, a phone call or a cooked meal.

Then add one luxurious treat, such as a candle or a soft throw, and one thing they’ll finish, such as chocolate. That mix is what makes a hamper feel generous rather than random.

Three Evopure hamper fillers

  • To sip: our Reishi Mushroom Adaptogenic Complex is a rich hot chocolate made with reishi mushroom extract, organic cacao, maca and coconut milk powder. It contains a little natural caffeine from the cacao, so it suits an afternoon or early evening mug. More in reishi cacao explained.
  • For sleep: the Magnesium Glycinate Sleep Complex is a berry-flavoured evening drink with 148mg magnesium per serving (the NHS says adults need 270mg to 300mg a day), plus glycine, L-theanine and chamomile, passionflower, hops and oat straw extracts. Magnesium contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
  • For the body: our CBD Balm is a cooling, non-greasy massage balm made with broad spectrum CBD, peppermint, eucalyptus and juniper.

All three are vegan and made in the UK.

The FSA’s 10mg a day figure is precautionary advice rather than a legal limit, set while longer-term safety research continues. At Evopure we think it is a very cautious figure, and many adults use more. If you go above it, increase slowly, and check with your GP or pharmacist first if you take any medication.

All our products are for adults (18+) only. We don’t recommend our products during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so leave them out of a pregnancy or new-baby hamper.

Self-care hamper ideas by theme

One theme makes a hamper feel planned. Pinterest and TikTok favourites include spa night, film night and “cosy night in” baskets; these six cover most people on your list.

A self-care hamper for her

Think “an evening that’s all hers”: a face mask, hand cream, bath salts, a candle, a paperback and a herbal tea or hot chocolate. For a best friend or sister, a photo or shared joke in the note makes it personal. For a mum-to-be or new mum, choose a soft robe, one-handed snacks and an offer of babysitting instead of supplements. More ideas in our wellness gifts guide.

A self-care hamper for him

Many men prefer useful to fluffy: a muscle balm for after the gym, a decent shower gel, warm socks, a heavy mug with hot chocolate or coffee, a puzzle book and a head torch for winter walks. See our wellness gifts for men for more.

A self-care hamper for someone who’s stressed

A hamper can’t fix what’s causing the stress, but it says “I’ve noticed, and you’re allowed to stop for an evening”. Keep everything effortless: herbal tea, a soft throw, a candle, a puzzle book and a ready-made treat, nothing that becomes another job. The NHS suggests listing three things you’re thankful for each day, so a small notebook fits well, as does a card with a breathing exercise from how to relieve stress. If Christmas itself is the pressure, see Christmas stress, and for more calming ideas, gifts for anxiety.

If they’re going through a really hard time, the most useful thing in the box is your note offering to talk. Anyone who is struggling can call Samaritans free on 116 123, day or night.

A sleep hamper for someone who can’t sleep

Build it around the NHS’s insomnia advice: relax for at least an hour before bed, for example with a bath or a book, and keep the bedroom dark and quiet. So pack bath salts, a paperback, a contoured eye mask, foam earplugs, bed socks and a caffeine-free bedtime drink such as chamomile tea or our Magnesium Sleep Complex. Keep the reishi hot chocolate for earlier in the evening. For an adult who already uses CBD, our Sleep CBD Oil, broad spectrum CBD with passion flower extract and a night-time terpene blend, fits the theme. A weighted blanket makes it a bigger gift. See magnesium for sleep and our sleep gifts list. If poor sleep has lasted months, gently suggest a GP.

A cosy winter hamper

For dark December evenings: a hot chocolate kit (good cacao, marshmallows, a cinnamon stick and a big mug), a hot water bottle, thick socks, a throw, a candle and a film or book. Copy a recipe from healthy hot chocolate onto a card, or build a whole hot chocolate hamper with hot chocolate gifts. To make it last, split it into 24 parcels with our wellness advent calendar.

A budget self-care hamper (under £25)

Use a mug or a jar as the container and fill it with four or five small things: tea bags, a hand cream, a face mask, a bar of chocolate, a sachet of bath salts and a note. Supermarkets and charity shops (great for books and baskets) stretch the budget, ideal for Secret Santa. More small ideas in wellness stocking fillers and wellness gifts by budget.

DIY or ready-made self-care hamper?

A DIY hamper usually costs less for the same contents and feels more personal. A ready-made one saves time, arrives gift-wrapped and suits people you don’t know well, though it often includes filler. A middle way: buy a few products you trust, then add personal touches and the note.

If you’re adding supplements or CBD, our Black Friday offers run from 27 to 30 November: see Black Friday at Evopure and our supplement offers. You can also mix and match in our bundle builder.

How to wrap and post a self-care hamper

  • Fill the base with shredded paper or a tea towel. Tallest items at the back.
  • Seal anything liquid in a zip bag and tape the lids. Wrap glass in bubble wrap.
  • Label homemade food with the ingredients and any allergens, such as milk or nuts.
  • Check posting rules. Perfume, aerosols and nail varnish are restricted by many carriers, so check the prohibited items list first.
  • Post it in a box. Put the basket inside a padded cardboard box.
  • Allow time at Christmas. Check retailers’ last order dates and your carrier’s last posting dates for Christmas 2026, and send early. Ordering items straight to them is often easier: at our checkout, tick “deliver to a different address”. See our shipping policy.
