What's inside

Ingredients

Every ingredient in the range, what it is, where it comes from and why it is in the formula. Described plainly, with the UK guidance linked where it exists.

Ashwagandha Root

This page is the whole list. Every ingredient in the Evopure range, what it is, where it comes from and why it is in the formula. We describe ingredients by what they are and how they are used, not by what we would like them to do. Where a UK authority publishes guidance or an authorised claim, we link to it.

All Evopure products are food supplements or cosmetics, not medicines. Do not exceed the stated dose. A supplement is not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or have a medical condition, speak to your GP or pharmacist before taking CBD or any new supplement.

The hemp side

Broad-spectrum CBD

Cannabis sativa L. (industrial hemp)

Cannabidiol is one of over a hundred cannabinoids in the hemp plant. A broad-spectrum extract keeps CBD alongside the plant’s other minor cannabinoids and terpenes, but has the THC removed, so every Evopure batch tests at 0% THC. Our extract comes from industrial hemp and every batch is verified by an independent UK laboratory for cannabinoid content, heavy metals, pesticides and residual solvents before it goes into a bottle.

CBD is regulated in Great Britain as a novel food. The Food Standards Agency guidance on CBD advises healthy adults not to take more than 10mg of CBD a day, and not to take it at all if pregnant, breastfeeding or on medication. Every Evopure label states the CBD per dose so you can stay within that guidance.

Terpenes

Terpenes are the aromatic compounds that give plants their smell and taste: the citrus in lemon peel, the pine in a forest, the pepper in black pepper. Hemp makes them too, and a broad-spectrum extract keeps some of them. We also blend named terpenes into three of the oils so the taste and character of each formula is deliberate rather than accidental. All are food-grade, plant-derived and declared on the label.

  • Energise blend (in Flow): citral, phellandrene, terpineol and beta-ocimene. Bright and citrus-led, with a natural honey and lemon note.
  • Relax blend (in Sleep): myrcene, caryophyllene, terpinolene and alpha-pinene. Earthy and herbal with a faint citrus lift.
  • Repair blend (in Relief): limonene, caryophyllene, humulene and alpha-pinene. Warm, peppery and green.

Botanicals

Ashwagandha

Withania somnifera

A small evergreen shrub grown across India and parts of Africa. The root has been used in Ayurvedic tradition for centuries and is one of the plants usually described as an adaptogen, a traditional term for herbs taken to support the body’s response to everyday stress. We use a standardised root extract so the amount in each dose of Flow is consistent from batch to batch.

Ashwagandha is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you take thyroid, sedative or immunosuppressant medication, check with your pharmacist before use.

Maca

Lepidium meyenii

A root vegetable from the high Andes of Peru, related to radish and cress, that has been grown and eaten there for around two thousand years. It is dried and milled into a nutty, malty powder and traditionally taken as an everyday food for vitality. Flow uses a root extract; Reishi Cacao uses the whole-root powder for flavour and body.

Find it in: Flow and Reishi Cacao.

Passion flower

Passiflora incarnata

A climbing vine native to the Americas with a long history of use in evening herbal blends and teas. For Sleep CBD Oil we infuse the whole herb into the MCT base oil in-house rather than buying in a finished extract, so the oil carries the plant’s own character. The Magnesium Sleep Complex uses a concentrated 4:1 extract.

Find it in: Sleep and Magnesium Sleep Complex.

Turmeric

Curcuma longa

The golden rhizome of a plant in the ginger family, grown mainly in India and South East Asia and used as a food and spice for thousands of years. Its colour comes from curcuminoids, the compounds a standardised turmeric extract is measured by. Curcuminoids are fat-soluble and poorly absorbed on their own, which is why turmeric is traditionally taken with fat and black pepper. Relief carries a standardised extract in MCT oil alongside black pepper extract for exactly that reason.

Find it in: Relief.

Black pepper

Piper nigrum

The dried fruit of a flowering vine, and the most traded spice in the world. Black pepper extract is standardised for piperine, the compound responsible for its heat, and it is included in Relief because piperine is widely used in supplement formulation alongside curcumin. It is a small amount, there for the formula rather than the taste.

Reishi

Ganoderma lucidum

A glossy, fan-shaped woody mushroom that grows on hardwood trees across Asia and has been used in Chinese and Japanese tradition for more than two thousand years, where it is known as lingzhi. Too tough and bitter to eat as a food, it is taken as an extract. Reishi Cacao pairs a reishi extract with organic cacao and coconut so it drinks like a hot chocolate.

Find it in: Reishi Cacao.

Chamomile

Matricaria chamomilla

The daisy-like flower behind one of the most widely drunk herbal teas in Europe. The Magnesium Sleep Complex includes a 4:1 flower extract as part of its evening botanical blend.

Find it in: Magnesium Sleep Complex.

Hops

Humulus lupulus

The cone-shaped flowers of the hop plant, better known for brewing. Hops have been used in European herbal tradition for centuries, usually in evening blends alongside passion flower and chamomile. The Magnesium Sleep Complex uses a 4:1 extract.

Find it in: Magnesium Sleep Complex.

Oat straw

Avena sativa

The green stem and leaf of the common oat plant, harvested before the grain ripens and dried. A traditional European herbal ingredient, included in the Magnesium Sleep Complex as a 10:1 extract.

Cacao

Theobroma cacao

Raw, organic cacao powder: the cocoa bean fermented, dried and cold-pressed to remove most of the fat, without the roasting or alkalising used for commercial cocoa. It is the base of Reishi Cacao and the reason it tastes like a proper hot chocolate rather than a mushroom tea. Cacao naturally contains a small amount of caffeine and theobromine.

Peppermint, eucalyptus and juniper berry

Mentha piperita, Eucalyptus globulus, Juniperus communis

The three essential oils in the CBD Balm. Peppermint gives the first cooling sensation on the skin, eucalyptus keeps that fresh, camphor-like note going, and juniper berry adds an earthy, woody finish. They sit in a base of plant oils and waxes that carry the broad-spectrum CBD. No synthetic fragrance, no parabens. For external use only; do not use on broken skin.

CBD Lab Testing with Evopure CBD Oil with Pipette

How we choose

Earn a place, or stay out

An ingredient goes into an Evopure formula when it does a clear job at a realistic dose, has a sensible history or evidence base, and comes from a supplier we can verify. Then the finished batch goes to an independent UK laboratory before it is sold. If it fails any of those tests, it does not go in, however fashionable it is.

Minerals, vitamins and amino acids

Magnesium glycinate

magnesium bisglycinate and magnesium citrate

Magnesium is a mineral the body needs in relatively large amounts. In the Sleep Complex it comes in two forms: magnesium bisglycinate, where the mineral is bound to the amino acid glycine (a gentle, well-tolerated form), and magnesium citrate. Together they deliver the elemental magnesium stated on the label. The formula now uses glycinate in place of the magnesium threonate it once contained.

The NHS: vitamins and minerals lists a daily requirement of 300mg for men and 270mg for women (aged 19 to 64) and notes that magnesium is found in foods such as spinach, nuts and wholemeal bread. Authorised claims in the GB nutrition and health claims register state that magnesium contributes to normal muscle function, to normal psychological function, and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

Find it in: Magnesium Sleep Complex.

Glycine

The simplest amino acid, naturally present in protein foods and made by the body itself. It is the “glycinate” half of magnesium bisglycinate, and the Sleep Complex adds a little more on its own. It has a mildly sweet taste, which is part of why the powder needs so little sweetener.

Find it in: Magnesium Sleep Complex.

L-Theanine

An amino acid found almost exclusively in the tea plant, Camellia sinensis, and responsible for part of the savoury, rounded taste of green tea. Ours is the L-form, the one found in tea, at the amount stated on the label of the Sleep Complex.

Find it in: Magnesium Sleep Complex.

Vitamin D3

cholecalciferol

The form of vitamin D the skin makes in sunlight. The NHS: vitamin D advises that everyone in the UK consider a 10 microgram (400 IU) daily supplement between October and March, when sunlight is too weak, and warns against taking more than 100 micrograms a day. Authorised claims in the GB nutrition and health claims register include that vitamin D contributes to the normal function of the immune system and the maintenance of normal bones and teeth. It is added to the Mint CBD Oil with Vitamin D3; the amount per dose is on the label.

Carriers, capsules and flavour

MCT oil

fractionated coconut oil

Medium-chain triglycerides, separated from coconut oil so that only the shorter, lighter fats remain. The result is a clear, almost tasteless oil that stays liquid in the cold and does not go rancid the way many carrier oils do. CBD and the plant extracts we use are fat-soluble, so they need a fat to dissolve in; MCT is the one we use in every oil and in the 1500mg capsules. Ours is coconut-derived and palm-free.

Find it in: Broad Spectrum CBD Oil and Flow and Sleep and Relief and the Evolabs oils and the 1500mg capsules.

Inulin

from chicory root

A soluble plant fibre found in chicory root, onions and Jerusalem artichokes. In the CBD Capsules it is the carrier that makes up the bulk of the capsule so the CBD dose can be measured accurately, and in the Sleep Complex it helps the powder mix. It is a prebiotic fibre and mildly sweet; in the small amounts used here it has no noticeable effect on digestion.

Find it in: CBD Capsules and Magnesium Sleep Complex.

The capsule itself

HPMC (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose)

Both capsule products use a vegetable capsule made from HPMC, a cellulose derived from plant fibre, rather than gelatine. That keeps the whole range vegan.

Find it in: CBD Capsules and the 1500mg capsules.

Natural flavourings and sweeteners

The flavoured Evolabs oils use natural flavourings (orange, cherry, mint) in the MCT base; nothing artificial. The Magnesium Sleep Complex is berry-flavoured with natural flavouring and beetroot powder for colour, sweetened with stevia (rebaudioside A, the purified sweet part of the stevia leaf), and uses small amounts of citric acid and malic acid, the acids found naturally in citrus and apples, to sharpen the taste. Reishi Cacao uses organic coconut sugar and coconut milk powder for sweetness and body. The Broad Spectrum, Flow, Sleep and Relief oils are unflavoured: what you taste is the plants.

Find it in: the Evolabs oils, Magnesium Sleep Complex and Reishi Cacao.

What is not in there

No THC (removed from the extract and verified at 0% on every batch). No gelatine, dairy or animal products. Palm-free MCT. No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. No proprietary blends that hide the amounts: every active is stated on the label and the certificate of analysis for your batch is available on the Lab reports page.

FAQs

Questions, answered

No. Full-spectrum extracts keep the plant’s trace THC (up to the legal limit). Broad-spectrum keeps the other cannabinoids and terpenes but has the THC removed, which is why every Evopure batch tests at 0% THC.

CBD and most plant extracts are fat-soluble, so they need a fat to dissolve in. Fractionated coconut (MCT) oil is clear, neutral in taste, stays liquid in the cold and keeps well, which makes it the most reliable carrier for a measured dose.

The whole range is vegan: HPMC capsules rather than gelatine and no dairy. Reishi Cacao and the MCT oils contain coconut. Full allergen information is on each product label.

Every batch has a certificate of analysis from an independent UK laboratory covering cannabinoid content, heavy metals, pesticides and residual solvents. Find yours on the Lab reports page or the product page.

Follow the Food Standards Agency guidance: no more than 10mg of CBD a day for healthy adults, and do not take CBD if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or on medication without speaking to your GP or pharmacist first.
