Pick a lower strength and an easy format, and put a note in the card about starting low. Capsules take out the measuring; a flavoured oil such as Evolabs Orange or Cherry hides the earthy hemp taste. Whatever the format, CBD food sold in England and Wales should be on the FSA public list, marked “Validated” or “Awaiting evidence”. Ask for a batch lab report (our guide to reading lab reports shows what to look for), and see UK made CBD oil if you’d like a British-made gift.
What not to give: “hemp flower” or CBD buds (the flowers and leaves are controlled parts of the plant in the UK), CBD for pets (in the UK, veterinary products containing CBD are veterinary medicines, so that’s a vet’s call), or anything with no company address or FSA list entry. Who CBD isn’t a good gift for
The FSA doesn’t recommend CBD for vulnerable groups unless under medical direction. A CBD gift should be for an adult who wants it.
- Under 18s. All our products are for adults only.
- Anyone pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive. We don’t recommend our products during pregnancy or breastfeeding. See CBD in pregnancy.
- People taking medicines. CBD can interact with some medicines, so they should check with a GP or pharmacist first. See CBD and medication.
- Anyone drug tested at work or in sport. See CBD and drug tests.
- Flow CBD Oil contains ashwagandha, which the FSA is reviewing; it has said it would advise pregnant women and people with liver conditions to avoid ashwagandha supplements. See our ashwagandha safety review.
