Last updated: October 2026
No, not on Trip’s own UK website. When we checked in October 2026, every Trip drink listed was a “Mindful Blend” magnesium drink with lion’s mane, lemon balm and chamomile, and none listed CBD. Trip’s original CBD cans contained 15mg of CBD each. If you have an older can, check the label.
Below: which Trip products contain CBD and which don’t, why the range changed, whether CBD drinks are legal in the UK, how much CBD a drink contains, and what to know about alcohol, driving, drug tests and medication.
Want a calm evening drink without the guesswork? Our Magnesium Glycinate Sleep Complex is a berry drink you mix hot or cold, with 148mg of magnesium per serving plus L-theanine and chamomile. Magnesium contributes to normal psychological function. It contains no CBD.
Do Trip drinks contain CBD?
Trip started out in 2019 as a CBD drinks brand, so it’s easy to assume every can still contains CBD. It doesn’t. Here is what Trip’s UK website showed when we checked on 21 October 2026:
| Trip product | CBD listed? | What the product page lists |
|---|---|---|
| Mindful Blend cans (Elderflower Mint, Wild Strawberry, Cherry Lemon, Sicilian Lemon, Apple Blossom, Blood Orange, Raspberry Orange, Tropical Mango) | No | 120mg magnesium (as magnesium citrate) per can, lion’s mane extract, lemon balm and chamomile |
| Powders (Calm and Hydrate electrolytes, Dream, magnesium, creatine and magnesium) | No | Ingredients vary by product; none list CBD |
| Gummies (magnesium, ashwagandha and vitamin D, lion’s mane, Dream) | No | Ingredients vary by product; none list CBD |
| Original Trip CBD cans (such as Elderflower Mint CBD, Peach Ginger, Lemon Basil) | Yes | 15mg CBD per 250ml can. No longer listed on Trip’s UK site |
Trip’s old CBD drinks page now redirects to its Mindful Blends range. Some shops, resellers and cupboards may still have older CBD cans, though. The quickest check is the ingredients list on the can: Trip’s CBD versions listed “CBD extract”, and were sold as 15mg CBD drinks.
Trip’s product pages also show a “previous formulation” next to the current recipe and advise checking the can for the latest ingredients. For example, the earlier Elderflower Mint Mindful Blend listed ashwagandha and L-theanine; the current one lists lion’s mane, lemon balm and chamomile instead.
Does Trip Mindful Blend or Trip Calm have CBD?
Mindful Blend: no. Mindful Blend is Trip’s magnesium drink range, launched in April 2024 as a range without CBD. Each 250ml can lists 120mg of magnesium, which Trip’s label gives as 32% of the reference intake.
“Trip Calm”: people use this phrase for a few things. Trip sells Calm and Hydrate electrolyte powders, and its cans come with a membership to the Calm app. On Trip’s current UK site, none of these list CBD. If you are looking at a can with “calm” on it, the ingredients list is what counts.
Why Trip’s range changed
The short version is that UK advice on CBD changed, and Trip broadened its range. The timeline, from trade press and Trip’s own pages:
- 2019: Trip launches as a CBD drinks brand.
- October 2023: the Food Standards Agency (FSA) cuts its advice for healthy adults from 70mg to 10mg of CBD a day. A 15mg Trip can is above that figure on its own.
- October 2023: Holland and Barrett temporarily withdraws 31 CBD products, including Trip cans, where one serving was over 10mg. The products return to sale within days, with added guidance.
- April 2024: Trip launches Mindful Blend without CBD. Its co-founder told The Grocer the range had been in development for 18 months and was “not related to the FSA”.
- October 2026: Trip’s UK website lists magnesium drinks, powders and gummies, and no CBD drinks.
For the full story on the 10mg figure, see our guide to the CBD daily limit in the UK.
Are CBD drinks legal in the UK?
Yes, as long as they follow the rules for CBD food. CBD has been classed as a “novel food” since January 2019. That means CBD food and drink sold in England and Wales has to be linked to an application on the FSA’s public list. The FSA says products not on the list, or marked “removed”, must be withdrawn from sale.
As of the FSA’s August 2026 guidance update, no CBD extract or isolate had yet been fully authorised. In September 2026 the FSA board recommended the first three applications to ministers, all at least 98% pure CBD with a maximum of 10mg a day. One of them was also recommended for use in drinks and confectionery. Read more in the FSA’s first CBD approvals explained.
THC, the part of cannabis that makes people high, is a controlled drug, so CBD food must meet strict rules on THC. For the wider legal picture, including oils, vapes and flower, see is CBD legal in the UK?
All Evopure CBD products are on the FSA public list, linked to validated applications RP438, RP821 and RP47, which means they can be sold while those applications are assessed.
How much CBD is in a CBD drink?
It varies, and it should be printed on the can. When the FSA changed its advice in 2023, most UK CBD drinks contained at least 12.5mg per can, and one industry estimate put more than 90% of them above 10mg per serving. Trip’s original cans contained 15mg.
The FSA’s guidance says that if a product contains a 10mg serving, you should only have one such product a day, and it asks businesses to label the amount of CBD per serving. That’s the main difference between a drink and other formats:
| Format | How the amount is set | Can you adjust it? |
|---|---|---|
| CBD drink | Fixed amount per can or bottle | Only by drinking part of it |
| CBD oil | A few milligrams per drop, depending on strength | Yes, drop by drop |
| CBD capsules | Fixed amount per capsule, such as 10mg or 25mg | By number of capsules |
Because CBD is an oil, drinks need a water-soluble form of it to mix into liquid. See what is water-soluble CBD? To work out an amount with an oil, see our CBD dosage guide and drops chart.
The FSA’s 10mg a day figure is precautionary advice rather than a legal limit, set while longer-term safety research continues. At Evopure we think it is a very cautious figure, and many adults use more. If you go above it, increase slowly, and check with your GP or pharmacist first if you take any medication.
CBD drinks and alcohol
Many people try CBD drinks as an alcohol-free swap, and that’s how a lot of them are marketed. Mixing CBD with alcohol is a different matter. CBD doesn’t stop you getting drunk, and the studies so far are small. We suggest keeping the two apart, especially if you’ll be driving or take medication. Our guide to CBD and alcohol covers what the research found.
If you’re cutting back, see our ideas for alcohol-free nightcaps.
CBD drinks, driving and drug tests
CBD itself is not on the UK’s list of drugs with a drug-driving blood limit. THC is: the limit is 2 micrograms per litre of blood. The risk with any CBD product, including drinks, is trace THC. A drug-driving conviction means at least a one-year driving ban, an unlimited fine and up to six months in prison.
- Driving: choose a lab-tested product with 0% THC, and don’t drive if you feel drowsy. See CBD and driving in the UK.
- Drug tests: workplace and roadside tests look for THC, not CBD, but no CBD product can guarantee a negative result. See does CBD show up on a drug test?
- Product type: full spectrum products can contain THC; broad spectrum and isolate are made to remove it. See full spectrum vs broad spectrum vs isolate.
A Trip Mindful Blend can lists no CBD at all, so it’s simply a magnesium soft drink as far as these questions go.
Medication, pregnancy and under-18s
The FSA doesn’t recommend CBD for these groups unless under medical direction:
- children and teenagers under 18
- people taking any medication, including antidepressants such as sertraline
- anyone trying to conceive, pregnant or breastfeeding
If you take medication, talk to your GP or pharmacist before trying a CBD drink. See can CBD interact with medication? and CBD in pregnancy. We don’t recommend our products during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and all Evopure products are for adults (18+) only. Trip’s product pages also say its drinks are not suitable for children or for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Magnesium drinks need a little thought too. The NHS says 400mg or less a day of magnesium from supplements is unlikely to cause harm, and higher doses can cause diarrhoea. If you have a couple of magnesium cans and take a magnesium supplement, add them up. See how much magnesium per day.
Like the idea of a calm drink? Our honest options
Trip’s current cans pair magnesium with botanicals, and earlier versions used ashwagandha and L-theanine. If that idea appeals, here is where you’ll find similar ingredients at Evopure:
- Magnesium Glycinate Sleep Complex: a berry drink you mix hot or cold, with magnesium bisglycinate and citrate (148mg magnesium per serving), L-theanine, glycine, chamomile, passionflower, hops and oat straw. Magnesium contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue and to normal psychological function. No CBD.
- Flow CBD Oil: broad spectrum CBD with 0% THC, plus ashwagandha and maca, in MCT oil. Instead of a fixed amount per can, you choose your amount drop by drop. CBD isn’t a treatment for any condition. See CBD and ashwagandha.
- Reishi Mushroom Adaptogenic Complex: a reishi hot chocolate made with reishi mushroom extract, organic cacao and maca, for a warm evening mug. Cacao means it contains a little natural caffeine. See reishi cacao.
All three are vegan, made in the UK and third-party lab tested.

FAQs
Do all Trip drinks contain CBD?
No. When we checked Trip’s UK website in October 2026, none of its drinks listed CBD. The current cans are Mindful Blend magnesium drinks. Trip’s original CBD cans contained 15mg of CBD each.
Does Trip Mindful Blend have CBD in it?
No. Mindful Blend is Trip’s magnesium range, launched in 2024 without CBD. Each 250ml can lists 120mg of magnesium with lion’s mane, lemon balm and chamomile.
How much CBD was in a Trip CBD drink?
Trip’s CBD cans contained 15mg of CBD per 250ml can. That is above the FSA’s advice of 10mg a day for healthy adults, which is precautionary advice rather than a legal limit.
Are CBD drinks legal in the UK?
Yes, if they are linked to an application on the FSA’s public list of CBD products. In September 2026 the FSA board recommended the first CBD applications for full authorisation, including one for use in drinks.
Is there an age limit for CBD drinks in the UK?
The FSA doesn’t recommend CBD for anyone under 18, and the first products recommended for authorisation would need to carry an under-18s warning. All Evopure products are for adults only.
Can you drive after a CBD drink?
CBD has no drug-driving limit, but THC does: 2 micrograms per litre of blood. Choose a lab-tested 0% THC product and don’t drive if you feel drowsy.
Can I have a CBD drink if I take sertraline or other medication?
The FSA doesn’t recommend CBD for people taking any medication unless under medical direction. Speak to your GP or pharmacist before trying a CBD drink.
