Viridian’s main magnesium supplements are High Potency Magnesium Bisglycinate (200mg of magnesium from two capsules, bisglycinate only), High Potency Magnesium (300mg per capsule from oxide, citrate and bisglycinate) and Magnesium Citrate (120mg per capsule). All three are described as vegan, in plant cellulose capsules, when we checked in October 2026.

Viridian’s magnesium range
Viridian’s magnesium collection lists 15 products, including powders that pair magnesium with calcium, potassium or creatine. These are the main magnesium-led ones:

Most of the capsule labels tell adults to take one or two capsules daily with food. Magnesium, B6 and Saffron says one capsule twice daily. For each form in general, see the types of magnesium.
Viridian magnesium bisglycinate: the label maths
Two capsules contain 1,668mg of magnesium bisglycinate, of which 200mg is magnesium itself (elemental magnesium). That is 100mg per capsule and 53% of the nutrient reference value (NRV) per two capsules. Viridian says it is fully reacted, with no other forms of magnesium, and sells it in packs of 60, 120, 180 and 240 capsules.
The same maths applies to Magnesium Taurate: two capsules hold 1,500mg of magnesium taurate, providing 112mg of magnesium. So always read the elemental figure, not the compound weight. Some brands name products by compound weight, as we found at Holland and Barrett.
Is bisglycinate the same as glycinate? In practice, yes: bisglycinate is magnesium bound to two glycine molecules, and “glycinate” is the everyday name for it. See our guide to magnesium glycinate.
Bisglycinate, citrate or High Potency?
- Bisglycinate: one form only, 200mg from two capsules.
- High Potency Magnesium: a mix of oxide, citrate and bisglycinate, 300mg in one capsule. The label doesn’t say how much comes from each form.
- Citrate: 120mg per capsule, or the powder at 375mg per half teaspoon stirred into water or juice. See magnesium citrate and powder vs tablets.
- Taurate: magnesium bound to taurine, 112mg from two capsules. See magnesium taurate.
On absorption, the evidence is small. In a 60-day UK trial in 46 healthy adults, citrate and an amino-acid chelate were absorbed better than oxide at 300mg a day, and citrate raised blood magnesium the most.
Where Evopure fits
Evopure isn’t connected with Viridian. Our products are different, not like-for-like swaps:
- Magnesium Glycinate Sleep Complex: a berry-flavoured drink powder with magnesium bisglycinate and citrate (148mg of magnesium per serving), glycine, L-theanine, chamomile, passionflower, hops and oat straw. Magnesium contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue and to normal psychological function.
- Reishi Mushroom Adaptogenic Complex: a reishi hot chocolate with organic cacao and maca. It contains a little natural caffeine.
- Sleep CBD Oil: broad spectrum CBD with 0% THC, plus passion flower, for an evening routine. CBD isn’t a treatment for sleep problems.
The FSA’s 10mg a day figure is precautionary advice rather than a legal limit, set while longer-term safety research continues. At Evopure we think it is a very cautious figure, and many adults use more. If you go above it, increase slowly, and check with your GP or pharmacist first if you take any medication.
All three are vegan and made in the UK, for adults (18+) only. We don’t recommend our products during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Viridian magnesium for sleep
No sleep claim for magnesium is authorised in the UK, and the research is modest. A 2021 review of three trials in 151 older adults found people fell asleep about 17 minutes faster than with placebo, but rated the evidence low quality. A 2025 trial in 155 adults with poor sleep, using 250mg of magnesium as bisglycinate, found a small improvement at four weeks. How much a day, and who should check first
The NHS says adults need 300mg (men) or 270mg (women) of magnesium a day, and that 400mg or less a day from supplements is unlikely to cause harm. Two High Potency capsules, the top adult dose on the label, would give 600mg, so add up every product you take.
High Potency Magnesium with B6 and Magnesium, B6 and Saffron each give 25mg of vitamin B6 per capsule. The NHS advises not taking more than 10mg of B6 a day from supplements unless a doctor advises it. Those two and Magnesium Taurate say not to use them during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless a healthcare practitioner recommends it. Some labels give children’s doses, so ask a GP or pharmacist first, and see magnesium for kids. Is Viridian Organic Magnesium organic?
Yes. It is made from organic sea lettuce, a seaweed, and Viridian says it is certified organic by the Soil Association. One capsule gives 150mg of magnesium.
Which Viridian magnesium has vitamin B6?
High Potency Magnesium with B6 and Magnesium, B6 and Saffron. Both give 25mg of vitamin B6 per capsule.
Is Evopure connected with Viridian?
