Yes. When we checked hollandandbarrett.com on 26 October 2026, its lion’s mane section listed 160 products. Holland and Barrett’s own brand had three: Lions Mane 20000mg capsules (a 20:1 fruiting body extract), Lions Mane Berry Flavour 2500mg gummies, and a plain lion’s mane powder. It had no own-brand mushroom coffee.

These are facts from Holland and Barrett’s own pages, not a review.

Want a mushroom drink without coffee? Our Reishi Mushroom Adaptogenic Complex is a hot chocolate made with reishi mushroom extract (not lion’s mane), organic cacao and maca. It contains a little natural caffeine from the cacao. Evopure isn’t sold by, or connected with, Holland and Barrett.

What lion’s mane does Holland and Barrett sell?

On 26 October 2026 the lion’s mane category page listed 160 products: capsules, tablets, gummies, powders, liquid drops, teas, ready-to-drink lattes and mushroom coffees. Some are sold by Holland and Barrett itself and some by other companies through its website.

Brands on the first page included fourfive, Grass and Co, Novomins, Trip, Cannaray, Love Mushrooms, Mindful Extracts, Reakiro, The Herbtender and Bristol Fungarium. Many mix lion’s mane with ashwagandha, reishi, ginseng or added vitamins. For brand detail, see our guides to Grass and Co and Cannaray.

Holland and Barrett’s own-brand lion’s mane

What the three own-brand pages said:

On the page 20000mg capsules 2500mg gummies Powder 100g
Lion’s mane per serving 1,000mg extract (2 capsules) 125mg extract (2 gummies) No serving size given
Form 20:1 extract 20:1 extract Ground mushroom, not an extract
Part used Fruiting body Fruiting body Fruiting body
Stated compounds 50% polysaccharides Not stated Not stated
Also contains Zinc 3mg, vitamin B12 50µg Vitamin B12, iodine, glucose syrup, sugar Nothing else
Vegan Yes (HPMC capsule) Marked vegan Not stated

Where “20000mg” comes from. A 20:1 extract means about 20 parts of dried mushroom went into 1 part of extract. So 1,000mg of extract is described as “the equivalent of 20,000mg”, and the gummies’ 125mg becomes 2,500mg. It describes the starting material, not 20g of lion’s mane.

Polysaccharides are not beta-glucans. “Polysaccharides” is a broad group that can include starch. Lab methods exist that measure beta-glucan separately, so a stated beta-glucan figure tells you more. None of the three pages gave one.

The powder page suggests stirring it into hot chocolate or granola. The capsule and gummy pages ask anyone pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medication to consult a doctor first.

Mushroom coffee at Holland and Barrett

Holland and Barrett’s mushroom drinks page listed 56 products in October 2026, none of them own-brand. Brands included Spacegoods, DIRTEA, London Nootropics, Cheerful Buddha, Love Mushrooms, Mushrooms For Life, Quirky Monkey and Mycology Nutrition.

Most are real coffee with mushroom extract added, so count the caffeine. The European Food Safety Authority says up to 400mg a day raises no safety concerns for healthy adults, or 200mg a day in pregnancy. Our guides to Spacegoods, DIRTEA and Four Sigmatic list the figures, and mushroom coffee explained covers the category.

Where Evopure fits

Evopure doesn’t make a lion’s mane product or a mushroom coffee, and we’re not saying ours are better. Here is what ours contain:

  • Reishi Mushroom Adaptogenic Complex: a hot chocolate with reishi mushroom extract, organic cacao, maca, coconut milk powder and coconut sugar. It contains reishi, not lion’s mane, and a little natural caffeine from the cacao. See reishi mushroom.
  • Magnesium Glycinate Sleep Complex: a berry drink powder with magnesium bisglycinate and citrate (148mg magnesium per serving), glycine, L-theanine, chamomile, passionflower, hops and oat straw. Magnesium contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
  • Flow CBD Oil: broad spectrum CBD with ashwagandha and maca in MCT oil, in 500mg and 1,000mg bottles.

The FSA’s 10mg a day figure is precautionary advice rather than a legal limit, set while longer-term safety research continues. At Evopure we think it is a very cautious figure, and many adults use more. If you go above it, increase slowly, and check with your GP or pharmacist first if you take any medication.

All three are vegan, made in the UK and third-party lab tested, and for adults (18+) only. We don’t recommend our products during pregnancy or breastfeeding. For the same shop’s other ranges, see Holland and Barrett ashwagandha, magnesium and CBD.

Lion’s mane: what the research says

No published trial has tested these products. For lion’s mane in general, which has no authorised UK health claim:

  • Older adults. In a Japanese trial, 30 adults aged 50 to 80 with mild cognitive impairment took about 3g a day of dried lion’s mane powder or a placebo for 16 weeks. Test scores rose in the lion’s mane group, then fell again within 4 weeks of stopping.
  • Young adults. A 2023 UK pilot gave 41 healthy adults 1.8g a day. They were quicker on one task an hour after a single dose, with a trend towards lower stress at 28 days, but there were null results too and the authors urge caution.

How long does it take, and can you take it every day? Trials ran daily for 4 to 16 weeks, so there is no quick answer. Follow one label and note that trials used grams of whole mushroom, while capsules list milligrams of extract. Our lion’s mane guide covers doses and side effects, and lion’s mane vs reishi vs cordyceps compares the mushrooms.

Is lion’s mane legal, and who should check first?

Lion’s mane is an edible mushroom, not a “magic mushroom”, and it is sold openly in the UK as a food and food supplement. Wild lion’s mane, known as bearded tooth, is protected under Schedule 8 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, so leave any you find in woods alone.

  • Pregnancy, breastfeeding or medication: speak to your GP or pharmacist first, as the own-brand pages advise.
  • Mushroom allergy: avoid it.
  • Children: Holland and Barrett also lists a Novomins kids’ lion’s mane gummy. The trials above were in adults, so ask your GP or pharmacist before giving any supplement to a child.

What to check on any lion’s mane label

These checks work anywhere, gummies included (see mushroom gummies):

Check What to look for
Part used Fruiting body, mycelium, or both
Extract or powder Ratio (20:1) and mg of extract per serving
Active compounds A stated beta-glucan %, not just “polysaccharides”
Other ingredients Added vitamins, iodine, sugar, caffeine
Testing Ask the brand for third-party lab results
Warnings Pregnancy, medication, allergy, age

For the wider picture, see how to choose a mushroom supplement in the UK.

Comparing gummies too? See Ankhway mushroom gummies, with the amount of each mushroom per gummy.

FAQs

Does Holland and Barrett sell lion’s mane?

Yes. In October 2026 its lion’s mane section listed 160 products, including capsules, gummies, powders, drops, teas and mushroom coffees. Three were Holland and Barrett’s own brand: 20000mg capsules, 2500mg berry gummies and a 100g powder.

How much lion’s mane is in Holland and Barrett 20000mg capsules?

Two capsules contain 1,000mg of a 20:1 fruiting body extract with 50% polysaccharides, which the page describes as the equivalent of 20,000mg of lion’s mane. They also contain zinc and vitamin B12.

Does Holland and Barrett sell mushroom coffee?

Yes, from other brands. Its mushroom drinks page listed 56 products in October 2026, including Spacegoods, DIRTEA, London Nootropics and Cheerful Buddha. We found no own-brand mushroom coffee.

Is lion’s mane legal in the UK?

Yes. Lion’s mane is an edible mushroom sold as a food and food supplement. It isn’t a psychedelic mushroom. Wild bearded tooth is a protected species, so don’t pick it.

Is Evopure sold in Holland and Barrett?

No. Evopure is sold online, direct from our own website, and isn’t connected with Holland and Barrett. We don’t make a lion’s mane product; our Reishi Mushroom Adaptogenic Complex is a reishi hot chocolate.
