Last updated: October 2026
Superdrug’s own brand sells four magnesium supplements: Magnesium Oxide 375mg tablets and three gummies (Vegan Magnesium, Magnesium Citrate and Vegan Sleep Magnesium). When we checked in October 2026, they gave 90mg to 375mg of magnesium a day. None of the four lists magnesium glycinate, though other brands at Superdrug sell it.
Facts come from Superdrug’s own website and labels. Evopure isn’t connected with Superdrug, and we don’t rate or review other brands.
What magnesium does Superdrug sell under its own brand?
| Own-brand product | Magnesium form | Magnesium a day | Serving |
|---|---|---|---|
| Magnesium Oxide 375mg | Oxide, carbonate | 375mg | 1 tablet |
| Vegan Magnesium 160mg Gummies | Citrate | 160mg | 2 gummies |
| Magnesium Citrate Gummies | Citrate, plus vitamin C | 90mg | 2 gummies |
| Vegan Sleep Magnesium Gummies | Citrate, plus B6 and lemon balm | 100mg | 2 gummies |
All three gummies are made “with sugar”. All four labels say adults and children over 12. For each form, see the types of magnesium.
Label maths: what the mg in the name means
A label can give the weight of the whole magnesium compound or the elemental magnesium, the magnesium itself. Only the second counts towards your daily amount, and Superdrug’s names mix the two:
- Magnesium Oxide 375mg: one tablet gives 375mg of magnesium, 100% of the nutrient reference value (NRV).
- Vegan Magnesium 160mg: two gummies give 160mg of magnesium (43% NRV).
- Magnesium Citrate 864mg: the 864mg is the citrate compound. Two gummies provide 90mg of magnesium (24% NRV), plus 12mg of vitamin C.
- Vegan Magnesium Sleep 200mg: Superdrug’s nutrition panel gives 100mg of magnesium per two gummies (27% NRV). The page doesn’t explain the 200mg, so check the pack.
Oxide packs a lot of magnesium into a tablet, but a small US study measured only about 4% absorbed, and a UK trial found citrate raised blood magnesium more than oxide. Read more in our guides to magnesium oxide and magnesium citrate.
Does Superdrug sell magnesium glycinate?
Not under its own brand when we checked: the three gummies list magnesium citrate, and the tablets oxide and carbonate. Superdrug’s website did list glycinate from other brands, including New Leaf, Vita London, Natural Vitality, Nutravita, WeightWorld and VitaBright, many marked “online only”.
For the research, see our magnesium glycinate guide.
Superdrug magnesium for sleep
The Vegan Sleep Magnesium Gummies are mixed berry flavour. Two give 100mg of magnesium (from citrate), 0.21mg of vitamin B6 and 19mg of lemon balm extract. The page’s claim is for vitamin B6 (normal psychological function); no magnesium sleep claim is authorised in the UK.
The research is modest. A 2021 review of three small trials in older adults found people fell asleep about 17 minutes faster than with placebo, on low-quality evidence. A 2025 trial in 155 adults with poor sleep found a small benefit from 250mg of magnesium bisglycinate. See magnesium for sleep, and speak to your GP if poor sleep goes on for weeks.
Where Evopure fits
Evopure sells online, direct from our own website. Our products are different, not like-for-like swaps:
- Magnesium Glycinate Sleep Complex: a berry drink powder with magnesium bisglycinate and citrate (148mg of magnesium per serving), glycine, L-theanine, chamomile, passionflower, hops and oat straw. Magnesium contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
- Reishi Mushroom Adaptogenic Complex: a reishi hot chocolate with organic cacao and maca. It contains a little natural caffeine.
- Sleep CBD Oil: broad spectrum CBD with 0% THC, plus passion flower, for an evening routine. CBD isn’t a treatment for sleep problems.
The FSA’s 10mg a day figure is precautionary advice rather than a legal limit, set while longer-term safety research continues. At Evopure we think it is a very cautious figure, and many adults use more. If you go above it, increase slowly, and check with your GP or pharmacist first if you take any medication.
All three are vegan and made in the UK, for adults (18+) only. We don’t recommend our products during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

How much a day, and who should check first
The NHS says adults need 300mg (men) or 270mg (women) of magnesium a day, and that 400mg or less a day from supplements is unlikely to cause harm. More than that for a short time can cause diarrhoea. One oxide tablet plus two Vegan Magnesium gummies would add 535mg, so add up everything you take.
Superdrug’s labels say to consult a doctor or pharmacist first if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking prescribed medicines. Ask before giving a child any supplement; see magnesium for kids. More in how much magnesium per day.
