Last updated: October 2026
Boots sells several own-brand magnesium supplements: plain magnesium tablets (oxide), a bisglycinate capsule, two 4-in-1 blends with glycinate and citrate, a calcium and magnesium tablet and kids’ gummies. When we checked in October 2026, they gave between 60mg and 384mg of magnesium a day. The mg in a product’s name isn’t always the magnesium you get.
Everything below comes from Boots’ own website and labels, checked on 26 October 2026. Evopure isn’t sold by or connected with Boots, and we don’t rate or review other brands.
Prefer to buy direct from the maker? Our Magnesium Glycinate Sleep Complex is a berry drink powder with magnesium bisglycinate and citrate (148mg of magnesium per serving), glycine and L-theanine. Magnesium contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
What magnesium does Boots sell?
Boots’ magnesium page listed 265 products when we checked. These are the Boots and Wellthy by Boots supplements with magnesium as the main ingredient:
| Own-brand product | Form | Magnesium a day | Serving |
|---|---|---|---|
| Magnesium 375mg Tablets (60 or 180) | Oxide | 375mg | 2 tablets |
| Magnesium Bisglycinate 665mg | Bisglycinate | 75mg | 1 capsule |
| Magnesium 4 in 1 | Bisglycinate, oxide, malate, citrate | 375mg | 2 capsules |
| Wellthy Magnesium Glycinate 1800mg 4-in-1 | Bisglycinate, malate, citrate, oxide | 384mg | 2 capsules |
| Calcium, Magnesium + Vitamin D | Oxide, plus calcium and D3 | 375mg | 2 tablets |
| Kids Magnesium Gummies (3+) | Citrate, plus D3 | 60mg | 1 gummy |
All the capsules and the plain tablets are listed as suitable for vegetarians and vegans; the calcium tablets say vegetarian. Most are for adults and children aged 12 and over. Stock varies by shop, so treat this as a snapshot.
Label maths: compound mg vs magnesium
Magnesium in a supplement is always bound to something else, such as glycine or citric acid. Labels can give the weight of the whole compound and the elemental magnesium, the magnesium itself, which is what counts. Boots’ nutrition tables (NRV is the nutrient reference value) list:
| Product (daily serving) | Compound on the label | Elemental magnesium |
|---|---|---|
| Bisglycinate 665mg (1 capsule) | 665mg bisglycinate | 75mg (20% NRV) |
| Wellthy 1800mg 4-in-1 (2 capsules) | 1,800mg of four compounds | 384mg (102% NRV) |
| Magnesium 4 in 1 (2 capsules) | 1,506mg of four compounds | 375mg (100% NRV) |
| Magnesium 375mg (2 tablets) | Oxide (weight not given) | 375mg (100% NRV) |
So the “665mg” and “1800mg” are compound weights, while the “375mg” products give 375mg of magnesium, but per two tablets or capsules, not per one. Glycinate is heavy, so much of its weight is glycine. Our guide to the types of magnesium explains each partner.
Boots magnesium glycinate
Boots sells glycinate as magnesium bisglycinate (magnesium bound to two glycine molecules) in three own-brand products:
- Boots Magnesium Bisglycinate 665mg (30 capsules): one a day, 75mg of magnesium, with bisglycinate the only magnesium source listed.
- Wellthy by Boots Magnesium Glycinate 1800mg 4-in-1 (90 capsules): two a day give 600mg of bisglycinate plus 400mg each of malate, citrate and oxide, providing 384mg of magnesium.
- Boots Magnesium 4 in 1 (60 capsules): two a day give 480mg of bisglycinate, 430mg of oxide, 400mg of malate and 196mg of citrate, providing 375mg of magnesium.
Is Boots magnesium glycinate or citrate? The two 4-in-1 blends contain both, plus oxide and malate, so they aren’t pure glycinate. For what the research says, see our magnesium glycinate guide.
Boots magnesium citrate
We didn’t find a Boots own-brand magnesium citrate tablet on its own. A search for “magnesium citrate” on boots.com returned 15 results from other brands, including Modern Chemistry, New Nordic, Osavi, Solgar and Natures Aid. Boots’ own citrate comes inside the two 4-in-1 capsules, the kids’ gummies and the Wellthy bedtime powder.
Citrate is one of the better-studied forms: in a 60-day UK trial in 46 healthy adults, citrate raised blood magnesium more than an amino-acid chelate or oxide. Read our magnesium citrate guide, or compare the main forms in glycinate vs citrate vs threonate.
Where Evopure fits
Evopure isn’t sold by or connected with Boots; we sell online, direct. These are different products, not like-for-like swaps:
- Magnesium Glycinate Sleep Complex: a berry drink powder with magnesium bisglycinate and citrate (148mg of magnesium per serving), glycine, L-theanine, chamomile, passionflower, hops and oat straw. Magnesium contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue and to normal psychological function.
- Reishi Mushroom Adaptogenic Complex: a reishi hot chocolate with reishi mushroom extract, organic cacao, maca, coconut milk powder and coconut sugar. It contains a little natural caffeine.
- Sleep CBD Oil: broad spectrum CBD with 0% THC, plus passion flower and a terpene blend led by myrcene. CBD isn’t a treatment for sleep problems.
The FSA’s 10mg a day figure is precautionary advice rather than a legal limit, set while longer-term safety research continues. At Evopure we think it is a very cautious figure, and many adults use more. If you go above it, increase slowly, and check with your GP or pharmacist first if you take any medication.
All three are vegan and made in the UK, for adults (18+) only. We don’t recommend our products during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Boots magnesium tablets, sprays and paste
- Magnesium 375mg Tablets: magnesium oxide, two a day for 375mg. A US study measured only about 4% of oxide absorbed. See magnesium oxide.
- Calcium, Magnesium + Vitamin D: two tablets give 800mg of calcium, 375mg of magnesium (oxide) and 10µg of vitamin D3. More in magnesium and calcium.
- Sprays: we found no Boots own-brand magnesium spray. The 11 results were mostly BetterYou body sprays. See magnesium spray for what the research says about skin absorption.
- Magnesium Sulfate Paste B.P.: a medicine, not a supplement. It is a drawing paste for minor skin infections such as boils, for use on the skin only.
Boots magnesium for sleep
Boots’ own magnesium tablets and capsules aren’t sold as sleep products. No health claim linking magnesium to sleep is authorised in the UK. The one own-brand evening product is the Wellthy Night-Time Rituals Bedtime Blend, a sour cherry powder for adults (18+). Each sachet lists magnesium citrate 25mg (7% NRV) and bisglycinate 51.25mg (14% NRV), about 76mg of magnesium going by those NRV figures, plus six vitamins, zinc, glycine, lemon balm, chamomile, lavender, sour cherry and green tea extracts.
The research on magnesium and sleep so far:
- A 2021 review found three trials in 151 older adults. People fell asleep about 17 minutes faster than with placebo, but the evidence was low to very low quality.
- A 2025 German trial gave 155 adults with poor sleep 250mg of magnesium as bisglycinate, or a placebo, each day. Insomnia scores improved a little more with magnesium at 4 weeks; the authors called the effect small.
See magnesium for sleep and does magnesium make you sleepy? The kids’ gummies are for ages 3 and up; ask your GP or pharmacist before giving a child any supplement, and see magnesium for kids. If poor sleep goes on for weeks, speak to your GP.
Which other magnesium brands does Boots stock?
On Boots’ magnesium page, Boots had the most listings (27). Other brands with the most listings were BetterYou, New Nordic, Osavi, TRIP, Novomins, Lumity, Zooki, Natural Vitality and Virtue Drinks. Vitabiotics, Solgar, Modern Chemistry, Natures Aid and New Leaf were also listed. The count includes drinks and multivitamins.
For individual brands, see Vitabiotics Ultra Magnesium, Solgar magnesium and Wild Nutrition magnesium. Comparing shops? See Holland and Barrett magnesium, Home Bargains ashwagandha and magnesium and what Boots sells in CBD. For a general guide wherever you shop, see our UK magnesium supplement guide.
How much magnesium a day
The NHS says adults aged 19 to 64 need 300mg a day (men) or 270mg a day (women), most of which you should get from food. It adds that 400mg or less a day from supplements is unlikely to cause any harm, and that more than 400mg for a short time can cause diarrhoea.
Add up everything you take. The Wellthy 4-in-1 (384mg) plus Calcium, Magnesium + Vitamin D (375mg) would be 759mg, well over 400mg. Boots’ labels say to check with your doctor or pharmacist first if you take medication, have a medical condition, or are pregnant or breastfeeding. See how much magnesium per day and magnesium side effects.

FAQs
Does Boots sell magnesium glycinate?
Yes. When we checked in October 2026, Boots’ own brand sold Magnesium Bisglycinate 665mg capsules (75mg of magnesium each), and two 4-in-1 blends that include bisglycinate alongside citrate, malate and oxide.
How much magnesium is in Boots Magnesium Bisglycinate 665mg?
One capsule gives 75mg of elemental magnesium, 20% of the NRV, according to Boots’ nutrition table. The 665mg is the weight of the magnesium bisglycinate compound.
What form is Boots Magnesium 375mg?
Magnesium oxide. Two tablets a day give 375mg of magnesium, 100% of the NRV, so each tablet gives about half that.
Does Boots sell magnesium citrate?
Not as a plain own-brand tablet when we checked. Boots’ own citrate is inside its 4-in-1 capsules, kids’ gummies and Wellthy bedtime powder, and other brands’ citrate products are on boots.com.
Is Boots magnesium good for sleep?
Its own-brand magnesium tablets aren’t marketed for sleep, and no sleep claim for magnesium is authorised in the UK. Trials of magnesium for sleep are small and show modest effects at best. See your GP if poor sleep goes on for weeks.
Is Evopure sold in Boots?
No. Evopure is sold online, direct from our own website, and isn’t connected with Boots.
