Trip Mindful Blend is a sparkling magnesium drink. When we checked Trip’s UK website in October 2026, each 250ml can listed 120mg of magnesium (as magnesium citrate), 100mg of lion’s mane extract, plus lemon balm and chamomile, with no caffeine or CBD listed. Magnesium contributes to normal psychological function. No trials have tested the drink itself.

Below: the full ingredients, what each one does and what the research says, how it might make you feel, whether it suits the evening, how many cans a day is sensible, side effects and who should avoid it, and how it compares with CBD drinks.

Like the idea of a magnesium drink at home? Our Magnesium Glycinate Sleep Complex is a berry powder you mix hot or cold, with 148mg of magnesium per serving plus L-theanine, glycine and chamomile. Magnesium contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

What’s in Trip Mindful Blend?

Here is what Trip’s own product pages listed when we checked on 23 October 2026. Trip states amounts for magnesium and lion’s mane only.

Ingredient Amount per can What it is What the research says
Magnesium (as magnesium citrate) 120mg, 32% of the reference intake An essential mineral Has authorised health claims, such as normal psychological function
Lion’s mane extract 100mg An edible mushroom A few small trials, using far larger amounts
Lemon balm Not stated A herb in the mint family Small trials on stress and mood; no authorised claims
Chamomile Not stated A daisy-family flower Small trials on sleep quality; no authorised claims

The rest of the can is carbonated water, fruit juice from concentrate (grape is the base of the flavours we checked), citric acid, natural flavourings and stevia. Lemon balm and chamomile appear within “natural flavourings and botanical extracts”.

  • Calories and sugar: Trip says all its drinks have 30 calories or less per can. The nutrition panels we checked showed about 2g of sugar per 100ml, all from the fruit juice, with no added sugar.
  • Caffeine: none listed in the ingredients.
  • CBD: none. Mindful Blend launched in 2024 as a range without CBD. See do Trip drinks contain CBD?
  • Flavours: Cherry Lemon, Apple Blossom, Wild Strawberry, Sicilian Lemon, Blood Orange and Tropical Mango as single flavours, with Elderflower Mint and Raspberry Orange Blossom in mixed packs.
  • Other details Trip lists: vegan, gluten-free, made in the UK and third-party tested.

Trip’s pages also show a “previous formulation” beside the current one, and say to check the can for the latest recipe. Older cans of some flavours listed erythritol as well.

What does Trip Mindful Blend do? What the evidence says

No published study has tested Trip Mindful Blend, so the honest answer comes ingredient by ingredient.

Magnesium: the one with authorised claims

Magnesium is the only ingredient in the can with authorised health claims in Great Britain. Magnesium contributes to normal psychological function, a reduction of tiredness and fatigue, normal functioning of the nervous system and normal muscle function. Trip uses claims from this same list on its pages.

For scale, the NHS says adults need 300mg a day (men) or 270mg (women), mostly from food such as nuts, spinach and wholemeal bread. One can provides 120mg. For how this form compares with others, see magnesium citrate.

Lion’s mane: promising, but the trials are small

Lion’s mane is an edible mushroom that is popular in focus and “brain” products. The human research is limited:

  • A Japanese trial of 30 adults aged 50 to 80 with mild cognitive impairment used about 3g a day of dried lion’s mane for 16 weeks. Scores on a memory scale improved compared with placebo, then fell again within 4 weeks of stopping.
  • A UK pilot trial in 41 healthy adults aged 18 to 45 gave 1.8g a day for 28 days. People were quicker on one task after a single dose, and there was a trend towards lower stress that didn’t reach statistical significance. The researchers asked for their findings to be read with caution.
  • A small study of 30 women who ate lion’s mane cookies for 4 weeks found lower scores for low mood and general complaints than before they started.

A can contains 100mg of extract. Trip doesn’t state the extract strength, so a direct comparison isn’t possible, but the main trials used 1.8g to 3g a day. Lion’s mane has no authorised health claims. More in our lion’s mane guide.

Lemon balm: a traditional calming herb

Lemon balm has a long history of use. In Europe it is a traditional herbal medicine for mild stress and sleep, based on long-standing use rather than proof from clinical trials.

In one UK study, 18 healthy volunteers rated themselves calmer during a lab stress test after a single 600mg dose of lemon balm extract; a 300mg dose didn’t have that effect. A 2021 review of clinical trials found better anxiety and mood scores than placebo, but the trials were few and very different from each other, so the authors advised caution. Trip doesn’t say how much lemon balm is in a can. See lemon balm.

Chamomile: small studies on sleep quality

Chamomile is best known as a bedtime tea. A 2024 review of 10 studies (772 people) found better scores on a sleep quality questionnaire, but no improvement in how long people slept. An earlier review found no clear difference for anxiety across three trials. Trip doesn’t say how much chamomile is in a can, so we can’t compare it with the studies. See chamomile tea.

How does Trip Mindful Blend work, and how will it make you feel?

Most people shouldn’t expect a strong, obvious feeling. It’s a soft drink with added magnesium and botanicals, not a drug, and it contains no CBD, caffeine or alcohol.

  • Magnesium works in the background. Your body uses it every day, and its authorised benefits build up as part of your overall intake rather than kicking in within minutes. If you’re low, topping up over a few weeks is what counts. See how long magnesium takes to work.
  • The botanicals are in small or unstated amounts, so any effect is hard to predict.
  • The ritual may matter too. Swapping a coffee, an energy drink or a glass of wine for a cold, low-calorie can is a change in itself.

Trip’s own advice is that “dosing is personal”, and to note how you feel after your first can and go from there. There is no research on how long the drink takes to work.

Is Trip Mindful Blend good before bed?

It can fit an evening routine. Trip suggests it for an evening unwind as well as daytime, and no caffeine is listed, unlike cola or energy drinks. A few things to weigh up:

  • It isn’t a sleep aid. Magnesium isn’t a sedative, and no health claims for sleep are authorised for any ingredient in the can. See does magnesium make you sleepy?
  • Liquid at bedtime can mean a trip to the loo at night. If that’s you, have it with dinner instead.
  • Routine matters most. A regular wind-down, a dark cool room and less screen time do more for sleep than any drink. See our sleep hygiene guide.

How many Trip Mindful Blend drinks a day?

Trip says the range is made to enjoy “multiple times per day if desired”. The thing to keep an eye on is the magnesium. The NHS says 400mg or less a day of magnesium from supplements is unlikely to cause harm, and that more than 400mg for a short time can cause diarrhoea. Added magnesium in a drink isn’t sold as a supplement, but we would count it the same way.

Cans a day Added magnesium Against the NHS 400mg guide
1 120mg Well within
2 240mg Within
3 360mg Close to it
2 cans plus a 200mg supplement 440mg Over it

Magnesium from ordinary food doesn’t count towards this figure. For the full picture, see how much magnesium per day.

Trip Mindful Blend side effects and who should avoid it

For most healthy adults, a can is unlikely to cause problems. The possible side effects come from the ingredients:

  • Loose stools or stomach upset: most likely if you have several cans, or add them to a magnesium supplement. The NHS says more than 400mg of magnesium for a short time can cause diarrhoea. See magnesium side effects.
  • Allergy: the NCCIH says people allergic to ragweed, chrysanthemums, marigolds or daisies are more likely to react to chamomile. Avoid it if you’re allergic to mushrooms, chamomile or lemon balm.
  • Medicines: the NCCIH notes reported interactions between chamomile and warfarin and some medicines processed by the liver, and a possible one with sedatives. Magnesium can interact with some medicines too. If you take regular medication, ask your pharmacist first.
  • Kidney disease: high blood magnesium is most often seen in kidney failure. If you have kidney disease, ask your GP or kidney team before having drinks or supplements with added magnesium.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and children: Trip’s own product pages say the drinks are “not suitable for children, pregnant or breastfeeding women”. The NCCIH says little is known about chamomile safety in pregnancy or breastfeeding. Speak to your midwife, GP or pharmacist about any supplement in pregnancy. See magnesium in pregnancy. We don’t recommend our own products during pregnancy or breastfeeding either, and all Evopure products are for adults (18+) only.

Trip Mindful Blend vs CBD drinks

Trip started out as a CBD drinks brand, which is why many people search for this. The current cans are a different product:

Trip Mindful Blend CBD drinks
Main active 120mg magnesium, plus botanicals CBD, an amount set per can
Authorised claims Yes, for magnesium None for CBD
UK rules Food with added magnesium CBD novel food: must be on the FSA public list
Daily amount NHS: 400mg magnesium from supplements FSA advice: 10mg CBD for healthy adults

Trip’s original CBD cans contained 15mg of CBD each and are no longer listed on its UK site. Our Trip and CBD guide explains why the range changed. Because CBD is an oil, drinks need a water-soluble form of CBD, and the amount in a can is fixed. With an oil you set the amount drop by drop: see our CBD dosage guide.

Many people try both as alcohol-free swaps. If you do drink, the research on mixing CBD with alcohol is limited. See CBD and alcohol.

If you like the idea: our honest options

Trip makes a ready-to-drink can. If you’d rather mix your own at home, or want CBD, here is where you’ll find similar ingredients at Evopure. They’re different products for different routines, not a like-for-like swap.

  • Magnesium Glycinate Sleep Complex: a berry powder you mix hot or cold, with magnesium bisglycinate and citrate (148mg magnesium per serving), glycine, L-theanine, chamomile, passionflower, hops and oat straw. Magnesium contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue and to normal psychological function. If you also drink magnesium cans, add them up.
  • Flow CBD Oil: broad spectrum CBD with 0% THC, plus ashwagandha and maca in MCT oil, taken drop by drop. CBD isn’t a treatment for any condition.
  • Reishi Mushroom Adaptogenic Complex: a reishi hot chocolate made with reishi mushroom extract, organic cacao and maca, for a warm evening mug. It contains a little natural caffeine from the cacao. See reishi cacao.

The FSA’s 10mg a day figure is precautionary advice rather than a legal limit, set while longer-term safety research continues. At Evopure we think it is a very cautious figure, and many adults use more. If you go above it, increase slowly, and check with your GP or pharmacist first if you take any medication.

All three are vegan, made in the UK and third-party lab tested.
