Yes. When we checked home.bargains in October 2026, Home Bargains listed one ashwagandha supplement, Vit Direct Ashwagandha Capsules (500mg of a 10:1 extract, one a day), plus several magnesium supplements, including Vitawell Magnesium Glycinate. Below we set out what the labels say, how they compare with what trials used, and what to check.

Everything here comes from the Home Bargains product pages and official UK sources, checked October 2026. We don’t rate, rank or review other brands’ products.

Prefer to buy direct from the maker? Our Magnesium Glycinate Sleep Complex combines magnesium bisglycinate and citrate with L-theanine, chamomile and passionflower, and our Flow CBD Oil pairs broad spectrum CBD with ashwagandha and maca. Evopure is sold online only and isn’t sold by, or connected with, Home Bargains.

Does Home Bargains sell ashwagandha?

Yes. A search for “ashwagandha” on home.bargains on 23 October 2026 returned one product: Vit Direct Ashwagandha Capsules, in a pack of 30. We didn’t find ashwagandha gummies, powders or a KSM-66 product on the site. Here is what the product page says:

On the listing Vit Direct Ashwagandha
Amount per capsule 500mg ashwagandha 10:1 extract
“Equivalent to” 5,000mg ashwagandha
Directions 1 capsule a day with water, preferably with a meal
Pack 30 capsules, “one month supply”
Capsule shell Bovine gelatine
Plant part (root or leaf) Not stated on the listing
Withanolide content Not stated on the listing

The page also tells you to speak to your doctor first if you take any medication or have a medical condition, and to keep the product out of reach of children. Home Bargains notes that products are often reformulated, so the label on the pack is the one to go by. Stock also varies between its stores, which the site puts at over 600.

How to read an ashwagandha label

Ashwagandha products differ a lot, which is why two capsules that both say “500mg” may not be alike. Three details matter most.

  • Extract ratio (for example 10:1). This tells you how much dried herb went into the extract: 10:1 means about 10 parts of herb for 1 part of extract. That is why a 500mg capsule can say “equivalent to 5,000mg”. It describes the starting material, not how concentrated the active compounds are.
  • Standardisation (withanolide %). Withanolides are the compounds researchers usually measure. A standardised extract states a percentage, such as 5%, so you know roughly how much is in each dose.
  • Plant part. Supplements may use root, leaf or a mix of both. Most of the stress and sleep trials used root extract.

For comparison, here is what some well-known trials used:

  • A 60-day trial in 64 adults with chronic stress used 300mg of a high-concentration, full-spectrum root extract twice a day (600mg in total).
  • A 60-day trial in 60 stressed adults used 240mg a day of a standardised extract called Shoden.
  • A 2022 meta-analysis of 12 trials (1,002 people) found the stress results clustered around 300 to 600mg a day, and rated the certainty of the evidence as low.

Because those trials used named, standardised extracts, you can’t match a product to them unless its label gives the same details. If a label doesn’t state the plant part or withanolide content, the maker is the place to ask. Our guide to how much ashwagandha per day has a table by extract type, and when to take ashwagandha covers timing.

Is Home Bargains ashwagandha any good?

People often search for “Home Bargains ashwagandha reviews”. We don’t publish reviews or ratings of other brands’ products, because we haven’t tested them. What we can do is set out the facts on the label (above) and what the research says about ashwagandha in general.

The US National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) notes that many ashwagandha studies have been small and have used a variety of preparations, and that there isn’t enough information to judge long-term safety. Most trials ran for 6 to 12 weeks. Our guides to ashwagandha and anxiety and ashwagandha and sleep go through the trials honestly. Ashwagandha has no authorised health claims in the UK, so no product can legally claim it treats stress, anxiety or sleep problems.

If stress, low mood or poor sleep is affecting your daily life, speak to your GP. Those deserve a proper check, not just a supplement.

Is ashwagandha legal in the UK?

Yes. In October 2026 ashwagandha is legal to sell as a food supplement in the UK, and you can buy it over the counter. But it is under review:

  • FSA call for evidence. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) asked for safety and market data on ashwagandha supplements between July and September 2024, and published a summary of the responses in June 2026.
  • Committee on Toxicity. The responses go to the independent Committee on Toxicity (COT). The FSA will then carry out a risk assessment and publish the outcome, which the four UK nations will review together.
  • Advice in the meantime. In June 2026 the FSA told Which? that, while the review continues, it would advise people with pre-existing liver conditions and pregnant women to avoid ashwagandha supplements.
  • Elsewhere in Europe. Denmark banned ashwagandha in food supplements in 2023.

Our UK ashwagandha safety review tracks each step of the review as it happens.

Who should avoid ashwagandha

Whichever brand or shop you buy from, don’t take ashwagandha, or check with your GP or pharmacist first, if any of these apply:

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding: avoid it.
  • Liver conditions: avoid it. Liver injury linked to ashwagandha is rare, but in one published case series five people developed jaundice 2 to 12 weeks after starting it. Their liver tests returned to normal within 1 to 5 months in the four who were followed up.
  • Thyroid or autoimmune conditions, or surgery coming up.
  • Regular medicines, including thyroid, diabetes, blood pressure, sedative and immune-suppressing medicines.
  • Under 18s.

Stop taking it and see a doctor if you notice yellowing skin or eyes, or itching all over. Common, milder side effects include drowsiness and stomach upset. See ashwagandha side effects for the full list.

What magnesium does Home Bargains sell?

A search for “magnesium” on home.bargains on 23 October 2026 showed four magnesium supplements to swallow, plus sprays and bath salts. The supplements’ pages gave these details:

Product Form of magnesium Magnesium per daily serving
Vitawell Magnesium Glycinate, 60 capsules Glycinate 200mg (2 capsules)
Health and Wellbeing Magnesium Complex 5in1, 60 capsules Oxide, bisglycinate, malate, ascorbate, citrate 400mg, plus vitamin B6 (2 capsules)
Revitalise Healthcare+ Magnesium and Vitamin B6, 90 Oxide 375mg, plus vitamin B6 (1 a day)
Vit Direct Zinc and Magnesium Plus Vitamin B6, 90 Oxide and citrate Not shown on the listing

The Revitalise Healthcare+ page gives TJ Morris Ltd of Liverpool, the company behind Home Bargains, as the manufacturer’s address. Home Bargains’ wider “Vitamins and Supplements” range also includes vitamin D, B complex, vitamin C, fish oils and multivitamins.

The sprays (for example Anovia Magnesium Sleep Spray, which lists magnesium chloride and lavender oil) and Epsom or magnesium bath salts go on your skin rather than being swallowed. Our magnesium spray guide explains what the research says about absorbing magnesium through the skin.

Home Bargains magnesium glycinate 1000mg: what it means

The “1000mg” on a magnesium glycinate pack is usually the weight of the whole compound: magnesium bound to glycine. The number that matters is elemental magnesium, the magnesium itself. On the Vitawell page, two capsules give 1,000mg of magnesium glycinate, providing 200mg of magnesium, or 53% of the nutrient reference value (NRV).

To put that in context, the NHS says adults aged 19 to 64 need 300mg a day (men) or 270mg a day (women), most of which should come from food. It adds that 400mg or less a day from supplements is unlikely to cause any harm, and that high doses over 400mg for a short time can cause diarrhoea. If you take a magnesium supplement and a multivitamin, add up the magnesium in both.

The form matters too, because each one is absorbed and tolerated a little differently. Our guides to magnesium glycinate, magnesium oxide and the types of magnesium compare them, and how much magnesium per day covers amounts by age. For blends like a 5in1, see magnesium complex explained.

Where Evopure fits

Evopure isn’t sold by Home Bargains, and we’re not connected with it. We sell online, direct from our own website. Here is what we can tell you about our own products:

  • Flow CBD Oil: broad spectrum CBD with ashwagandha and maca in MCT oil, in 500mg and 1,000mg 10ml bottles, made for daytime. Read more in CBD and ashwagandha.
  • Magnesium Glycinate Sleep Complex: magnesium bisglycinate and citrate (148mg of elemental magnesium per serving), with glycine, L-theanine, chamomile, passionflower, hops and oat straw, with a berry flavour. Magnesium contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue and to normal psychological function.
  • Reishi Mushroom Adaptogenic Complex: a reishi hot chocolate made with reishi mushroom extract, organic cacao, maca, coconut milk powder and coconut sugar. It contains a little natural caffeine from the cacao. See reishi vs ashwagandha.

Everything we make is vegan, made in the UK and tested by ISO 17025 accredited labs, with reports on request from our lab testing page. Our CBD products are broad spectrum, 0% THC and on the FSA public list, linked to validated applications RP438, RP821 and RP47. Our products are for adults (18+) only, and we don’t recommend our products during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

The FSA’s 10mg a day figure is precautionary advice rather than a legal limit, set while longer-term safety research continues. At Evopure we think it is a very cautious figure, and many adults use more. If you go above it, increase slowly, and check with your GP or pharmacist first if you take any medication.
