Baking with CBD oil is a delicious and creative way to incorporate your daily dose — especially if you want to avoid the taste of plain oil. Here are four of the best CBD cake recipes, plus practical tips to get the most from your CBD when baking.
Evopure CBD — great for baking
Can you use any CBD oil for baking?
Technically yes — but for best results:
- Choose organic broad-spectrum oil — avoids pesticides and gives you the full cannabinoid and terpene profile
- Avoid flavoured CBD oils — they will affect your cake’s flavour in ways that may not work well
- Never substitute hempseed oil — hempseed oil contains only trace CBD and won’t give you any cannabinoid benefits
- Choose unflavoured oil for the cleanest results in most recipes
How to bake with CBD oil — key tips
1. Bind CBD to fat first
CBD is fat-soluble. For effective, even-distributed baking, bind CBD with fat by making CBD butter or CBD coconut oil first. This improves stability, bioavailability and even dosing across portions. Read more: CBD butter recipe
2. Bake at CBD-friendly temperatures
Heat activates CBD (decarboxylation) — but too much destroys it. CBD’s effective activation range is approximately 160–180°C (320–356°F). To protect potency and account for oven variations, bake at 150°C (300°F) or below wherever possible.
3. Vegan adaptations are easy
Almost any recipe can be made vegan: swap butter for vegan spread or CBD coconut oil; milk for oat, almond or soy; eggs for flax eggs or commercial replacers. Any vegan cake can become a CBD cake by using a CBD-infused fat. Read more: Is CBD oil vegan?

What oven temperature is best when baking with CBD?
Keep bakes at or below 150°C (300°F) where possible. CBD begins degrading above around 160–180°C (320–356°F), so a lower set-point protects potency.
How do I dose CBD in bakes?
Decide your target total milligrams per batch, then divide by the number of portions (slices or cupcakes). Mix CBD oil into your butter or fat first for even distribution throughout the bake.
Can I add CBD oil straight to the batter?
You can, but binding CBD to fat first (CBD butter or CBD coconut oil) gives better consistency, distribution and stability throughout baking.
Will flavoured CBD oils affect the taste?
Yes — avoid flavoured oils unless the flavour specifically complements your recipe. Unflavoured or natural CBD oil is the best choice for most baking.
Are these recipes suitable for vegans?
All can be adapted: swap butter for CBD coconut oil or vegan spread, use plant milks, and use flax eggs or commercial egg replacers. Most vegan swaps work seamlessly.
